What our customers say about G-Lime®:

“The advent of  G-Lime® has allowed us to get on to the land with a tractor and fertiliser spinner when we want to give the grazing paddocks and silage ground a pH boost for the year ahead. Adding to the attraction of G-Lime®, the fact that its composition is calcium and magnesium – the cows on the estate would have been prone to grass staggers while grazing during the autumn months. However, we have not had one case of this nature to deal with since starting to spread G-Lime® on the grazing paddocks.”

Denzil Johnston, Farm Manager, Lisgoole Abbey Estate, Co. Fermanagh

“In the past, we have used the granulated fertiliser G-Lime® on the grazing paddocks throughout the Spring and summer months. It is easy to spread, using the fertiliser spinner, and we can apply it while the cows are still grazing. G-Lime® is a very versatile and quick acting product. It is gives us the re-assurance that we can maintain soil pH levels in a way that fits in with our farm management practises.”

Aidan Foody, Sprucegrove Dairy Herd Farm, Co. Mayo

“The vast majority of Irish soils have a pH that is well below that which is optimal for plant growth. A quick soil test will confirm this. So liming will help to ensure that soil pH values rise, thereby allowing a much more efficient use of all other fertilise nutrients that are applied to grassland areas and tillage crops.
The spreading of agricultural crime is advised if soils are found to be particularly acidic. However this brings with it the challenge of relying on a contractor. Moreover many farmers do not want to go to this trouble on ground taken in conacre.
In such circumstances, we strongly advise the spreading of the granulated lime product G-Lime®. It is tremendously convenient, as it can be spread by farmers using their own fertiliser spinners. In addition, the extremely fine form of the lime contained within the granules means that an application rate of two hundredweight per acre will provide crops with that all important fast acting boost which they need in the early Spring months.”

Derek Glenn, Branch Manager of the Clonleigh Co-op store in Castlefin, Co Donegal

“Most of East Donegal is a Magnesium deficient area and, on that basis alone, I started using G-Lime® on the grassland areas around the home farm. Most of the cereal ground is taken on conacre every year. I am fully aware of the need to ensure that soils are at an optimum pH. But I am not going to spread agricultural lime on ground that I may only have the use of for one year. In such circumstances G-Lime® is again the answer, I have used it for the last number of years and am very happy with the results obtained.”

Charlie Dooher, Farmer on the outskirts of Lifford

“Last year we grew a crop of forage maize on rented ground. We knew from the outset that the land needed lime, so we opted to sow G-Lime®. It gave the land a much needed fertility boost. It also meant that we could spread the product with our fertiliser spinner, rather than waiting on a contractor.
As most farmers will know, 2011 was not a good year in which to grow crops of forage maize. The weather was extremely changeable and cool throughout the growing season and the harvest became a real snatch and grab, given the very wet back end. That said, the G-Lime® certainly helped to improve soil fertility levels and we would use it again under similar circumstances.”

Tom O’Donnell (Farm Manager) on the outskirts of Portlaoise

“We had our best tillage year ever in 2011. Yields were excellent and we managed to sell our barley at top of the market prices. The only downside to the business looking forward to the year ahead is the rocketing cost of inputs, particularly barley. This worrying factor will significantly erode our margins, particularly if we do not success in hitting top yields. A high proportion of our barley ground is rented. Liming is obviously important, in order to ensure the correct soil pH levels. We soil test regularly and we know there is an acidity issue with a lot of the land that we take.
Spreading agricultural lime is the long term answer to this challenge, However, it is not feasible for us to look at a long term solution for land which we might only have for one or two years. Instead we sow G-Lime®, which is a granular lime product. This gives the land an immediate and effective pH boost. What’s more we can spread the product using our own fertiliser spinner.”

“We have used G-Lime® in the past, particularly when re-seeding and as a means of sweetening the grass for the cows. We were very happy with the job it did for us. What we liked about it was the ease of spreading and the fact that it contained the added Magnesium.”
