Landscape Design Case Study

Problem

Faced with difficult site conditions, the client for this job was looking for a landscape design solution which would compliment their existing restructuring of the kitchen and conservatory areas and offer adequate parking, passing and turning provision within the original driveway. They also wanted a variety of interesting planting beds introduced into the soft landscaping to compliment the paving products used.

Solution

The new design gives additional focus to the front door of the dwelling with feature semi circular steps utilising TerraPave Country Cobble - 'Cashel', with 'Slate' Kerb wall unit riser. A large patio area was created using TerraPave Natural Aggregate Flags in 'Sorrento' colour. Planting beds of washed cobbles have been introduced adjacent to the dwelling to help to clothe and soften the built form and to compliment and frame the newly paved areas. These have been edged with 'Slate' Kerb Wall Unit riser as step detail.

A contemporary patio and terrace area has also been created in a semi-formal style. The paving pattern used richly textured and coloured large element paving again TerraPave Natural Aggregate Flags - 'Sorrento' with contrasting TerraPave Country Cobble setts. In contrast the paved areas linking the back and front of the dwelling are curved and informal, helping to create a balance in the design.

The newly widened driveway uses a simple yet striking edging detail reflecting paving used elsewhere in the design. Two rows of TerraPave Country Cobble Cashel with raised Slate Kerb Wall unit were used to reflect the paving used elsewhere in the design.
