Tatton Park Flower Show

Acheson & Glover strikes Gold at premier garden show

Paving specialists Acheson & Glover Group struck gold at the first attempt at the 2006, RHS [Royal Horticultural Society] Flower Show at Tatton Park, Cheshire. They teamed up with The Northwest Regional Development Agency who won a prestigious RHS Gold Award for their innovative show garden entitled “A Healthy Future – England’s Northwest”

Acheson & Glover, based in Dungannon, Northern Ireland provided the paving which forms a bold framework to the garden. Their flagship, TerraPave Natural Aggregate Flags in a smooth charcoal grey finish were used to create pathways that compliment and  contrast with the soft planting scheme.

The garden, designed by Urban Vision Partnership Limited, Landscape Design Group, is part of an on-going educational project for two local primary schools in Salford, which are due to merge in 2007. After the Show, the garden will be re-built within the grounds of the new school and the children will work on it and maintain it as part of their studies.

The garden is a modern twist on the traditional walled kitchen garden. It incorporates produce that can be grown to prepare healthy meals – five terraces of fruit and vegetables, informal herb beds and fruit trees all ensure that eating fresh is the dish of the day.

Dan Sterry and Andrew Stockton of Urban Vision were full of praise for the paving “It worked perfectly with our design and was just the right combination of colour, texture and scale. The flags will be great for the kids to use when we re-build the garden at the school”
