You are here > Home > Construction Pro > Masonry Blocks > Alphacrete® Acoustic > Acoustic Performance

The objective of room acoustics is to achieve the best possible acoustic conditions in a room, commensurate with its use. A few examples of application where acoustic performance is critical would be the following:

  • Listening conditions, in a concert hall
  • Sound recording conditions, in a studio
  • Protection against noise, in a factory
  • Mutual disturbance, in an open plan office or school.

In a closed space, there are sound reflections from the walls and ceiling. The most important of these effects is REVERBERATION, the prolongation of sound due to multiple reflections.

To see the effect of our Acoustic Masonry Block - Alphacrete Acoustic, listen to the following two sound files, you'll need a sound card and speakers to hear the difference. Combined with your choice of floor and ceiling material, Alphacrete Acoustic greatly assists in achieving optimum room acoutics.

The following sound file depicts a typical room with an acoustic reverberation time of 3.46 seconds.

HEAR the difference - a 0.7 second reverberation time - the optimum treatment for speech intelligibility
