Acheson & Glover has embarked on a major sales drive in Great Britain following the completion of a £3 million investment programme at its precast concrete facilities.
And in a move to meet growing demand from blue chip customers throughout Britain, the company has also expanded its technical department and nationwide sales and contract management teams. The major investment has transformed the company’s operation in Magherafelt, County Londonderry into one of the most modern Precast plants anywhere in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
Boasting a weekly output capacity of 5,000 m2 on a single shift, the purpose-built factory is equipped with six 130-metre hot water cured steel beds capable of producing pre-stressed flooring in a variety of depths. The plant can also turn out a wide variety of specially designed precast products including stairs, landings, balconies, terracing and ground beams using in-house designed and fabricated moulds and steel reinforcement facilities.
Production at the facility is entirely computer controlled and incorporates a fully automated batching plant which can produce concrete to a variety of mix designs by remote control whilst maintaining a high level of consistency and quality.
As a British Standards Institute (BSI) accredited BS EN ISO 9000 manufacturer, Acheson & Glover ensured that quality control considerations were paramount in the design and construction of the facility.
As a result, it is extremely easy to maintain – a factor which helps promote a quality-focused environment. Another benefit of this approach is that the factory’s design facilitates independent quality control. This allows products to be checked at all stages of the manufacturing process in line with Acheson & Glover’s ‘get it right first time’ philosophy.
Acheson have made a significant impact in Great Britain - now the main market for its precast product range.
Its rapidly expanding customer base includes Alfred McAlpine plc; Mowlem plc, Wilson Bowden Properties plc and Carillion to whom Acheson & Glover is Northern Ireland’s only privileged supplier of precast concrete.
