David Boland (right) and Patrick McLain of Acheson & Glover present a cheque to Geraldine Clare, Chief Executive Officer of Aware - one of the organisations benefiting from the construction materials manufacturer’s policy of making annual charity donations instead of distributing corporate Christmas gifts.

A nationwide voluntary organisation, Aware was set up in 1985 to provide vital emotional support and information to those who experience depression and to their families. The Acheson & Glover contribution will go toward the maintenance and development of Aware’s core services which include support groups nationwide, a loCall helpline open 365 days a year, and a secondary schools awareness programme. It is estimated that depression affects more than 400,000 Irish people at any one time.

The other organisations receiving donations from Acheson & Glover this year are the Lighthouse Club - the construction industry charity – and Help the Aged Northern Ireland.
