Acheson & Glover has completed its biggest-ever precast stair contract in Northern Ireland with the opening of the £400 million Victoria Square development in Belfast city centre.
The company supplied and fitted all 142 pre-cast flights of stairs and 56 landing units incorporated in the new 75,000m2 centre for main contractors Farrans Construction and Gilbert Ash, along with a quantity of 250mm hollowcore flooring.
Acheson & Glover also supplied 570 sq m2 of Natural Aggregate Flags and 66 meters of slate bullnose kerb setts used to pave an external fourth floor courtyard in Victoria Square’s upmarket residential area.
All of the precast products were designed and manufactured at the company’s Ballygawley plant which is one of the few operations of its type in Ireland with the capacity to turn out the volumes of product required against the tight timetable involved.

Brian Mulgrew, commercial manager of Acheson & Glover Precast Ltd says that the company is delighted to have been involved in the largest-ever commercial property development in Northern Ireland.
“Victoria Square reflects in a very dramatic way the region’s new confidence so it is very appropriate that it features a range of products from one Northern Ireland’s most innovative building products manufacturers.
“Our involvement in the project illustrates the strong in-house technical, engineering, surveying and manufacturing expertise that we can bring to bear on very large pre-cast projects of this type.
“These skills have earned us a strong reputation in the GB market where we are now recognised as one of the top precast concrete producers,” adds Brian.
