Contractors, Willmott Dixon recently led a ten strong, multi-discipline-team to visit their principal structural concrete supplier, Acheson & Glover Ltd, based in Northern Ireland.

The team, comprising Architect, Structural Engineer, QS, Contractor & Client is responsible for the new Ynysawdre Swimming Pool and Leisure Centre being built in Bridgend, Glamorgan. They were keen to see how their key supply-partner Acheson & Glover [A&G], manufacture the hollow-core flooring and pre-cast concrete stairs which form an integral part of the Centre.

They also saw the innovative brick cladding and retaining wall systems manufactured by the Company The visit was hosted by A&G's Sales Manager [Precast], Stephen Bell, who guided the party through the full production. "The Bridgend Leisure Centre is a complex project and the team was impressed by the attention to detail that the goes into the manufacture of these important structural components".

As well as staff from Contractors Willmott Dixon Cardiff Office, personnel from Gloucester based Architects, Limbrick; Structural Engineers, Clark Bond of Cardiff; Quantity Surveyors, Smith Thomas Consultants of Cirencester and Client, Bridgend County Council, took part in the visit.
